Time flies when you are sleep deprived....

I just got home from taking Beckett to his one month check up..........can I say that again...one month check up!!! I cannot believe it has been a month since our lil dude was born! To be honest I'm not really sure what all we have been up to this past month....I know it has involved several trips to the doctor and lots of runs to Chic-fil-a........most of it is a blur. Today he is 9 and a half pounds......21 inches long and just about as adorable as they come! Yesterday, while we were at Moes, we got our first real smile. It only seems appropriate that my child gives us his first smile while we are out to eat....just seems fitting. I am still sleep deprived but happy to be. I know that it is a short season and worth every minute. Here are some pictures of our precious baby boy at one month! Enjoy!

Praises!!!

After a mere 24 hours at home from the hospital, I received a phone call from our pediatrician informing me that Beckett's bilirubin levels in his blood were extremely high......and that we needed to get him to Children's Hospital as soon as possible. Being the calm...cool....collected woman that I am, I of course panicked! We had never had a child in the hospital before, and Beckett was just so tiny and fragile. It was so difficult as a mother to watch my baby get poked and prodded with needles all day, and not be able to comfort him. I am pretty sure that I lost about 5 pounds in tears alone. Brett and I collectively got about 4 hours of sleep that night, but by God's grace we came out the next morning with the great news that Becks responded well to the treatments and that we could come home. Yesterday I got the final call from our pediatrician letting me know that his bilirubin levels had finally come down to a healthy level, and that we could officially close the book on the jaundice episode!! We are so thankful for God's healing, and his provision. This verse continually came to my mind throughout the whole experience......"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness" 2 Corinthians 12:9

He is still a little jaundiced but we are hopeful that in a day or two he will be totally fine. Nursing has been going well which is such a huge blessing! We are very thankful.....I told the nurses we have been praying for this little guy for a very very long time =) We are so in love!! Thank you all for your prayers and support!!!!!!

Waiting

I'm not sure why the last few weeks of pregnancy are the most difficult. Maybe it is because of the ridiculously huge size of my belly. Or maybe it is the lack of sleep, throwing up, back pain and constant comments from strangers. Most likely, I think it is the anticipation of a new member for our family, and having no idea when he is going to arrive! Yesterday Brett and I did some research on home remedy's to help bring on labor, and we pretty much tried them all. Still no baby. We have been praying for God's perfect timing, and I'm very aware that this whole process reveals in me a sinful lack of patience.
I feel like we have been waiting for Beckett for more than just 9 months. Several weeks ago I was revisiting some old prayer journals and I found entries from more than two years ago, asking God to bless our family with a baby boy. Loosing our third baby only lengthened our wait and added to our anguish. I can say with confidence that I believe Becks will be worth the wait.
One of my favorite places to sit and wait is our new porch. We got a great deal on a love-seat glider, so I can sit outside, rock, and enjoy the best TN has to offer. This is one of the views I have in the mornings while I rock. Hopefully very soon I will have a new baby in my arms to help me enjoy the views!

I knew this day would come......

I knew this day would come eventually. We have two fast paced, wild and crazy kiddos. They love to run, jump, climb and act like sweet little monkeys. So I knew it was only a matter of time before the word "stitches" entered into our vocabulary. Today Ava had ballet class at our church. Lately at ballet, I sit on a couch in the church lobby while Elle rides her scooter outside with friends. This morning Elle decided to get up close and personal with the side of a brick wall. I was surrounded by a sea of loving mommies who helped keep me calm, helped get Elle cleaned up, and helped get the kids to the car. Elle was a trooper..........I on the other hand was a mess. I blame pregnancy hormones. We are all thankful to be home and enjoying movies and cookies.....and we are praying it will be a very very very long time before we go through this again =)

Summer Lovin

Well, as many of you (ok.....the two of you who actually read this blog) are now humming the tune from Grease, let me quickly explain the title of this post. Simply put, I have loved this summer! Sure it has been hot, I have been throwing up, and our new sweet puppy has been driving me crazy.......but overall it has been a fabulous summer. Ellie has been taking swimming lessons and has become quite the little fish. Ava has loved trips to the zoo and the splash pad. Brett and I enjoyed a get away to Charleston for the weekend. We even took our first family trip swimming in the lake. It was a blast! As my belly grows and the heat rises, it's getting more difficult to get out and enjoy the sun, but I wanted to share a few pictures from the past few months to let you see what we have been up to. Enjoy!
